Fluency was designed to connect to and across all layers in a customer’s network. It can deal with slower speed, complex data and applications at the Business Systems layer. Open Development Environment
Fluency is available in a Java-enabled option that pairs a Java development environment with the Kabira runtime. This option enables Kabira’s communication service provider customers and channel partners to develop highly available distributed transactional applications using standard Java programming models. Fluency extends the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) to support enterprise class features that can then be used to create new services on top of those they have already deployed on their Kabira software solution.
High-Availability Mechanisms and Methods
With Kabira’s Orchestration products, CSPs can achieve “five 9s” (99.999%) availability without relying on redundant clusterware, transaction monitors or databases. Kabira’s high-availability design creates a low-latency system, where failovers are transparent to users; there is no interruption of work, no transactions lost and backup and recovery functions occur with no degradation in performance.
The platform uses many field-tested techniques for achieving high-availability. However, unlike almost all other solutions, Kabira implements high-availability in software without using specialized hardware, shared or clustered disks, or redundant hardware lying idle in stand-by mode. Transaction routing ensures that business applications are always available, even if there is a hardware, operating system or application failure.
Configurability
All Kabira Orchestration product elements are highly configurable in nature. Kabira provides graphical interfaces for configuration data entry. Since Kabira is in the business of delivering mission-critical applications that require 24x7 uptime, the primary design principle at Kabira has always been to minimize code and make applications dynamically configurable. Business logic, service components and connectivity can be dynamically configured at runtime without any system downtime.
CSPs can dynamically add or remove services from running systems and manage provisioning of customer-specific services at runtime. On failure, CSPs can rollback to previous versions without incurring downtime. With these capabilities a CSP to run its operations with a minimum of planned downtime.
